Aaah - recovery/test week...

I think I needed this week more than I realised! It feels real good to take it a bit easy and recover from all the work I have been putting into the legs lately. Swimming is still the same (with a 1k TT thrown in) but cycling and running are reduced heaps. A few niggles were appearing, so hopefully this will help somewhat.

Well, disappointingly, Parramatta lost the league GF. But it was a pretty good game still. Next year. But we did win the ICC Champions Trophy in the cricket last night! Trade week in the AFL is in full swing. The Eagles have done pretty well I reckon. I am looking fwd to 2010 already!

I just read a piece from someone who knows Greg Welch - amazing story. Makes me remember what is really important in life!

Here's a ponderous (non-triathlon) question.

What is more important to you - good health - both physically and mentally, as in good 'quality' of life OR family, as in kids, partner, siblings and extended family etc ? Would it be better to be healthy and without much close family OR would it be better to be surrounded by loved ones but be constantly in ill health or pain?

Anyways, back to training. Did 2.7km last night in the pool and struggled a bit. It was hard work from the 1st 50 to the last. But I made myself do an extra 200m over the plan, just to make sure I didn't slack off. MS: 8 x 150's, as 100 hard/50 easy and then 3 x 200s' steady. Left arm felt a lot weaker than the right. Think something is not quite right there. Johnno - my chiro - did have to do a bit extra on that shoulder area last week.

This morning was 1hr hilly ride with repeats (6 x Rebold Hill) and a short 20min brick run. Felt pretty good. Felt strong and worked fairly hard but within myself. I checked the calibration of my foot pod. It was out 5% again. I don't know what is going on there. Maybe I need to check the setup/settings. As it is always out when I check it. Damn thing.
