3 days down, 2 to go! The hardest day(s) are in front of me!
Last calendar week was one of my biggest ever - 17:13 hours. I feel like it right now too...pretty tired and some muscle soreness. I managed to do 9.2k of swimming, 277k of riding and 65k of running. I did skip a few optional sessions in my Big Tri Weekend. My weekend continues on Mon/Tue - as I am off work and training. Tomorrow is the Epic Day and another big ride on Tue. So my totals at the end of next week s/be big too.
I had a great ride on Sat. Joined a mate & fellow IMWA entrant, Scott, for the middle part of a 165km ride. It was pretty windy with strong and gusty E-SE'ly winds. We rode down the Freeway bike path south and did Roe Highway as an out and back, then continued onto Baldivis and back. I ended up with a solid avg of 31.0. I later had a good 2.6k swim at Challenge. The water was lovely and I had a lane to myself. very nice.
Todays key session was an 18k run. Which I felt very strong for throughout. I then went to watch the LC Worlds for a couple hours. It was hot and windy. I was amazed at the low standard of some of the age groupers. Some bikes were not even TT rigs and some body shapes were more suited to shot put than triathlon! But that's what the AG'er thing is all about - participation. I just thought that the standard would have been a bit higher all the way through the ranks seeing how it was a World Championship... I then hit the pool on the way home and it was hard work. I could feel yesterdays session in my arms and shoulders. Funnily enough, the water felt quite cold today, 24 hours after it felt real nice and warm! I guess it's the difference between air and water temperature on a hot day (32.7 degrees)...
